Key Updates
- We hired a new Vice President of Innovation, Dawn Rodney, and she started June 25. We will work with Dawn on the first two innovation commitments.
- We are already demonstrating this ideation process through the pilot for Nature Pack. We opened up participation to all of HQ for the focus groups, and invited HQ staff and friends of the National Wildlife Federation with kids in our target tange to a “box fun day.” While we didn’t have a huge response in terms of numbers of participants, those that participated in either or both were very appreciative of the opportunity to give feedback and get their families engaged.
Theory of Change
- Create a team structure to advance the strategic plan with a clear focus and charge.
- Complete the Theory of Change pilot and develop next steps on training.

Theory of Change
Key Updates
- We identified team leads for each of the strategic plan and DEIJ goals. Through a servant leadership model, the team leads will facilitate strategy prioritization, internal communication, and high-level fundraising strategies. These leads will be responsible for inviting staff experts to be a part of their team and participate in a Theory of Change training. These teams will be tasked with identifying a priority strategy or strategies from the strategic plan, developing a theory of change for those strategies, and crafting an implementation plan for measuring the National Wildlife Federation’s progress on these priority strategies.
- Since our pilot training we have worked with our consultant, Amielle DeWan from Impact by Design (IBD), to develop and host two in-depth, three-day training sessions for goal teams. Along with program staff, staff from finance, philanthropy, operations, and communications will be included in the trainings in order to achieve a holistic approach to bringing Theory of Change to the National Wildlife Federation. Outside of these trainings, we will continue to create opportunities for staff to learn about and apply Theory of Change as we develop a broader rollout to reach staff across the entire organization.
